Description

Carousel Mix gathers soft foxglove color onto sturdy 3–3½-foot spires. Lavender, pink, purple, and white bells are freckled within, creating a pastel procession that bumblebees and hummingbirds explore flower by flower.

Unlike many foxgloves, Carousel can bloom the first year when started early. A midsummer sowing supplies plants for the following spring, and mature plants often self-sow to keep the carousel turning.

Sowing & Growing Instructions

Sow thinly in seed-starting mix, cover 1/8 inch deep, and keep evenly moist at 60–70°F with a strong light source. Germination is typically 14–28 days under the source conditions.

Once seedlings can be handled, transplant them 2–3 inches apart into individual pots. Harden off 3–4-inch plants and set out in rich, well-drained soil 12–15 inches apart. A midsummer sowing will bloom the following spring.

Provide consistent moisture and light shade or dappled sun, especially in hot areas; full sun suits mild-summer climates. Cutting spent stalks at the base encourages flowering side shoots, while uncut plants may self-sow.
