Shipping Policy

Annie’s Annuals Shipping Policy

At Annie’s Annuals & Perennials, we work to provide the most economical, safe, and timely shipping methods available so your plants arrive healthy and ready to grow. Plants are shipped in boxes of 4, 6, 8, or 12 plants per box, and we encourage customers to fill each box whenever possible.

We are unable to ship Annie’s Annuals plants to P.O. boxes or to locations outside the continental United States. Certain plants are subject to state-imposed shipping restrictions and may not be available for delivery to all locations.

Shipping methods and transit times may vary by destination. Orders shipping to certain Eastern and Midwestern states require Two-Day Express shipping to help protect plant health during longer transit times. If Express Shipping is required for your location, this will be automatically applied and clearly indicated at checkout.

Temperature Advisory (Over 85°F or Under 38°F)

Our young plants require moderate temperatures to thrive and may be stressed by extreme heat or cold, including temperatures below 38°F or above 85°F. Customers are encouraged to review typical temperature conditions in their area prior to placing an order. Plants are not guaranteed during periods of extreme temperatures.

Express Shipping Required to Certain States

Since we ship plants year-round from Northern California, it is essential that orders shipping to Eastern and Midwestern states travel via Two-Day Express service to help ensure plants arrive quickly and in good condition.

During certain times of the year, we may expand the number of states that require Two-Day Express shipping based on weather conditions and transit times. If your shipping address requires Express service, this option will be automatically applied and clearly indicated at checkout.

This requirement helps protect plants during longer transit times and changing weather conditions.

As of January 1, 2026, the following states require Two-Day Express shipping:

AL, CT, DC, DE, FL, GA, IN, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, VA, VT, WV

Processing & Handling Time

We place a high priority on delivering orders in a timely manner and staff our shipping facilities at least five days a week, year-round. Annie’s plants ship from our Northern California facilities on Mondays through Wednesdays to help minimize the chance of plants being held in transit over the weekend.

Orders are shipped in the order in which they are received. While we do our best to avoid delays, processing times may be longer during seasonal peak periods. Please contact us if you have questions about your order status.

Please note that ETA dates listed on our website reflect when plants are expected to arrive from our growers, not when orders will ship to customers. All plants are inspected by the county agriculture department and carefully reviewed by our team to ensure they meet our high standards for quality before shipping.

At this time, we do not accept pre-orders for Annie’s plants. If we are unable to ship all or part of your order due to plant unavailability, we will contact you regarding a possible replacement or substitution. If a replacement is temporarily unavailable, we may schedule it to ship once inventory becomes available. If a replacement is not possible, we will issue a refund for the plant purchase price (shipping charges are non-refundable).

Once an order has been prepared for shipment, we are unable to make changes to items or cancel the order.

Shipping Rate Adjustments

Our website uses live carrier rates based on dimensional weight to estimate shipping costs at checkout. Plant orders ship in standard-sized boxes with consistent shipping rates and are not subject to post-checkout shipping rate adjustments.

In rare cases, non-plant items may require special packaging or ship in non-standard box sizes. Because carriers calculate rates differently for these packages, shipping charges for non-plant products may occasionally be underestimated at checkout.

We are continually improving our shipping calculations. If a rate discrepancy does occur for a non-plant item, we will cover a portion of the additional cost and contact you prior to shipment. You may choose to approve the revised shipping cost, modify the order, or cancel for a full refund.

Order Status

You can review your order details at any time by signing in to your AnniesAnnuals.com account. When an item ships, orders are shipped exclusively via FedEx or UPS, and you will receive a shipping confirmation email with tracking information sent to the email address on file. This allows you to view estimated delivery timing and sign up for delivery notifications directly from the carrier.

If you are planning to travel and need to delay shipment, please contact us as soon as possible. Requests can often be accommodated provided the order has not yet been prepared for shipment.

Once a package has been marked as delivered by the carrier, it is considered successfully delivered to the shipping address provided. While we are unable to take responsibility for packages that are lost, stolen, or damaged after delivery, we will, when appropriate, work with the carrier and submit a claim on your behalf to help resolve the issue.

If you have questions about your order, please contact our customer service team at helpdesk@anniesannuals.com. To help us assist you more quickly, please include your order number and, if possible, contact us from the email address associated with your order.

Receiving Your Order

When your order arrives, please open and unpack your shipment immediately and inspect your plants carefully.

If there is an issue with your order, please:

  • Take clear photos of any damage or shortages
  • Photograph both the plants and the shipping package
  • Contact us within 48 hours of delivery
  • Retain all damaged items and shipping cartons

Please do not discard any damaged items or packaging, as the carrier may require an inspection before approving a claim.

Our goal is for customers to receive healthy plants that take root and thrive in their gardens. For approved requests, issues are typically resolved by replacing the plant. If a replacement is temporarily unavailable, we may schedule it for shipment once inventory is available, often within a couple of weeks. If a replacement is not possible, we will issue a refund for the plant purchase price (shipping charges are non-refundable).

Requests submitted after the 48-hour window cannot be accepted, as it becomes difficult to determine whether issues occurred during transit or resulted from handling, storage, or care after delivery.

Change of Address

If you have moved, please update your customer account with your current shipping address before placing a new order. If you are requesting a replacement order, be sure to notify us of your updated address at that time.

Orders are shipped to the address provided at checkout. While shipments cannot be redirected once in transit, keeping your address up to date helps ensure successful delivery.
