Description

Mermaid’s Dream washes a trellis in oceanic shades of true blue, lavender, deep mauve, and violet, lifted by just enough cream for shimmer and contrast. The large Mammoth heirloom flowers open together, creating a romantic, cool-toned display.

Every long stem carries the classic sweet pea fragrance of orange blossom and honey. The 6–8-foot vines make a graceful cottage-garden screen and supply beautifully scented bouquets throughout the cool flowering season.

Sowing & Growing Instructions

Before sowing, prepare deep, fertile, well-drained soil and set a sturdy trellis in place. Plant seeds 1 inch deep and 2–3 inches apart in cool early spring, or in fall where the ground does not freeze.

Keep the seedbed evenly moist. Germination is typically 12–28 days under the source conditions. Thin 2-inch seedlings to 4–5 inches apart, then encourage tendrils onto the support.

Mulch and water consistently as vines become heavy with bloom. Pick fragrant stems often and remove fading flowers to keep new buds coming; afternoon shade can help where summer heat arrives quickly.
