Agrostemma, also called Corn Cockle, is an easy, old-fashioned favorite that brings airy height and romantic color to spring and early-summer gardens. Slender stems hold satiny, star-shaped blooms—often in glowing magenta, soft pink, or white—that float above blue-green foliage and mix beautifully with other cottage-garden flowers. It’s wonderful in borders, wildflower patches, and cutting gardens, and it can readily reseed in the right spot. Give it sun and well-drained soil, then enjoy a bouquet-worthy show.
