Phygelius capensis
Magenta

We were never completely thrilled with Cape fuchsias until this vivid magenta form came along. Phygelius capensis ‘Magenta’ brings glowing tubular flowers in a rich, saturated shade that finally gives this easy, goof-proof perennial the color it deserves. Blooming over a long season, it adds serious hummingbird appeal to sunny borders, cottage gardens, pollinator plantings, and large containers.

Also known as magenta Cape fuchsia, this South African perennial forms a lush, upright plant with graceful stems carrying clusters of dangling flowers. The bright blooms look beautiful with salvias, grasses, roses, yarrow, dahlias, and silver foliage, and they provide a reliable nectar source for visiting hummingbirds. It is a great choice where you want height, color, and an easygoing habit without fuss.

Plant Phygelius capensis ‘Magenta’ in full sun to part shade with well-drained soil and regular to moderate water. Trim as needed to shape and refresh growth. Long-blooming, colorful, and wonderfully useful, this Cape fuchsia earns its space. Explore more standout perennials in our Explore more hummingbird favorites.
