Penstemon heterophyllus
GMR White

Elegant, versatile, and beautifully easy to place, Penstemon heterophyllus ‘GMR White’ brings a graceful display of bright white blooms to the garden with all the charm of a California native foothill penstemon. Its clean, tubular flowers add a fresh, luminous look to borders, native plant gardens, pollinator plantings, woodland edges, and companion plantings where softer color is needed.

Also known as white foothill penstemon, this hardy perennial is a lovely choice for gardeners who want long-lasting seasonal color with a natural, low-fuss feel. The flowers are attractive to hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, while the tidy growth habit makes it easy to weave among sages, yarrow, buckwheats, grasses, California poppies, and other drought-tolerant native perennials.

Plant Penstemon heterophyllus ‘GMR White’ in part shade to sun with well-drained soil and average water. Hardy in USDA Zones 6–10, it returns season after season with enduring charm and fresh garden sparkle. Explore more habitat-friendly favorites in our California Native Perennials collection.
