Set the garden aglow with Lotus ‘Amazon Sunset’! Flickering parrot-beak blooms in fiery shades of orange, red, and gold dance above feathery silver foliage, looking for all the world like a flock of tiny tropical birds caught midflight. Even between flower shows, its soft, shimmering leaves and graceful trailing stems bring irresistible texture to pots, baskets, and sunny garden edges.

This low-growing, spreading plant reaches approximately 6–8 inches tall and 10–12 inches wide, with stems that cascade beautifully over container rims and walls. Grow it in full sun to partial shade and sharply drained soil. Provide moderate water while it becomes established, then allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. ‘Amazon Sunset’ is a tender evergreen perennial in USDA zones 9–11 and is commonly grown as an annual elsewhere.

The most abundant flowering occurs in spring and early summer when nighttime temperatures remain below approximately 60°F. During hotter weather, enjoy it as a striking silver-foliaged accent until cooler conditions encourage another flush of blooms. Drought-tolerant and generally avoided by deer, it is a natural choice for hanging baskets, mixed containers, rock gardens, groundcover plantings, and sunny retaining walls.
