Fast, floriferous, and happily immodest, Iochroma ‘Princess’ covers itself in clusters of flaring plummy-pink bells that hummingbirds find irresistible. This vigorous hybrid between Iochroma cyaneum and Iochroma australe ‘Alba’ combines tropical-looking bloom with a graceful, spreading framework and an exceptionally generous flowering habit.

Naturally multi-trunked, ‘Princess’ can be grown as a large shrub or trained into a charming small tree. It commonly fills a 6–8-foot space and can approach 10 feet in a long warm season, although pruning keeps it readily within bounds. Use it for quick privacy, a flowering backdrop, a roomy container, or a side-yard spectacle where its rosy bells can mingle with salvias, abutilons, ornamental grasses, and bold foliage.

Give ‘Princess’ full sun to part shade, well-drained soil, and regular water while establishing; mature plants tolerate occasional water and even clay-ish soil better than their lush appearance suggests. Prune whenever needed to refresh the branching framework or control size. In mild climates it can flower for much of the year, bringing repeated hummingbird commotion and an unmistakable note of exuberance.
