Like a late-summer sunset captured in petals, Helianthus annuus ‘Ruby Eclipse’ is a sunflower with uncommon depth and romance. Soft cream petals are brushed and burnished with dusty rose, warm ruby, and wine-red around rich, dark centers, giving every bloom a subtly different, hand-painted character. The effect is glowing rather than brash—an irresistible blend of antique color and sunny exuberance that brings instant drama to the garden and makes every bouquet feel gathered from a painter’s palette.

This vigorous annual sunflower reaches about 5–6 feet tall and develops strong side branches, each carrying more of those beautifully nuanced blooms from late summer into fall. Let it rise at the back of a sunny border, devote a row to it in the cutting garden, or weave it among zinnias, rudbeckias, amaranth, and ornamental grasses for a lavish end-of-season tapestry. The long stems and warm, blendable colors are especially lovely for cutting.

Plant in full sun and well-drained soil, providing moderate water while roots establish. Cutting flowers regularly or removing faded blooms encourages the branching display to keep going. In exposed or windy gardens, a sheltered position or discreet support will help the tall stems remain at their best.
