Tiny, trailing, and delightfully odd, Fuchsia procumbens is the fuchsia that apparently never received the usual flower instructions. Instead of dangling bells, this New Zealand species produces curious upright blooms in yellow-green with touches of red, purple, and blue, followed by decorative red berries that extend the show.

The plant forms a low mat only about 2–4 inches tall, with small rounded leaves and stems that creep or spill wherever gravity permits. That habit makes Creeping Fuchsia fabulous in hanging baskets, shaded containers, rock-garden pockets, greenhouse collections, miniature plantings, and protected garden edges. Seen up close, every small flower looks like an elaborate piece of botanical jewelry.

Part shade and steady moisture suit its woodland character, while shelter from hard frost helps preserve the evergreen foliage in mild climates.
