Cuphea
Allyson

Colorful, lively, and irresistible to hummingbirds, Cuphea ‘Allyson’ brings masses of small purple-lavender flowers and fine-textured foliage to warm garden spaces. This easy-care cigar plant, also known as false heather, creates a soft, bushy presence in borders, containers, pollinator gardens, and wildlife-friendly plantings. Blooming over a long season, it adds steady color, delicate texture, and constant garden activity without asking for much in return.

Growing into a compact, rounded plant, Cuphea ‘Allyson’ works beautifully as an edging plant, container accent, low border, or cheerful filler among sun-loving perennials and drought-tolerant garden favorites. Its tiny tubular flowers pair wonderfully with salvias, lantanas, yarrow, verbena, gaura, ornamental grasses, lavender, and silver foliage, creating a layered, pollinator-friendly garden display. Hummingbirds, bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects are drawn to the blooms, while gardeners appreciate its tidy habit and generous flower power.

Plant Cuphea ‘Allyson’ in full sun to part sun with well-drained soil and moderate water while it settles in. Once established, this low-maintenance perennial shrub handles warm weather beautifully and keeps blooming with very little fuss. Bright, durable, and wonderfully useful, it is a charming choice for adding long-lasting color and wildlife appeal to sunny spaces.
