Description
Can you get much better than a spring-through-fall blooming Ceanothus? Ceanothus x delileanus ‘Gloire de Versailles’ is a beautiful, fast-growing shrub with a loose, rounded habit and a continuous display of fragrant powder-blue flower panicles that can reach 4–5" long.
Also known as California lilac, this butterfly-friendly shrub brings soft blue color, fragrance, and graceful structure to mixed borders, pollinator gardens, cottage plantings, and informal screens. The flowers are well displayed against handsome green foliage and are especially lovely with roses, salvias, grasses, yarrow, lavender, and silver-leaved companions. Unlike many spring-only shrubs, ‘Gloire de Versailles’ keeps the show going for a wonderfully long season.
Plant Ceanothus x delileanus ‘Gloire de Versailles’ in full sun with well-drained soil. Provide moderate water and avoid soggy conditions for best performance. Prune lightly after bloom to shape as needed. Fragrant, floriferous, and easy to love, this Ceanothus adds months of blue charm to the garden. Explore more favorites in our Ceanothus collection.

Plant Care & Arrival Guide
Get your plants off to a strong start with our care guide.

I planted one of these beauties (from Annie's) about 4 years ago in a sunblasted spot along our split rail fence, where she really didn't get much attention. Wow, she grew & grew, blooms and blooms and GRABS our attention! Gloire blooms much longer than any of my other ceanothus (most are spring blooming) and keeps surprising me with another gorgeous flush of delicate light blue blossoms. Our native bees love it dearly. It's now mid-August and she's blooming profusely, still! As soon as this plant is back in stock, I'm buying at least 2 more! I'm in Zone 9, coastal (far) northern California where we have NO rain from the end of May until October, and Gloire gets only occasional summer water. Her near neighbor is a bushy "Irene" rosemary and they both love the same conditions.
