California Early White Garlic (lb)

California Early White is a friendly, no-fuss softneck with classic pale bulbs and an especially useful early finish. Layered cloves serve every kitchen task, while pliable stems can be braided and the vacated bed is ready for a warm-season follow-up crop.

The flavor is medium and familiar—bright enough for salsa or dressing, yet gentle and rounded in soups, sauces and roasted vegetables. Larger outer cloves are perfect for roasting; smaller ones make quick seasoning for stocks and marinades.

Set the cloves in a sunny fall bed with loose, fertile soil. Begin checking bulbs in early summer as the tops decline, then cure them in shade.

Open and inspect your garlic or shallots promptly. If an item arrives in substandard condition, keep garlic heads intact, photograph the item and packaging, and contact Customer Service within 3 days. Approved arrival claims are refunded at the product purchase price, excluding shipping.

Limited seed garlic germination guarantee

Seed garlic planted by November 15 is covered for germination. If more than 50% of the cloves fail to germinate, contact us within 45 days of purchase or delivery and no later than December 31. Approved claims receive store credit for the seed garlic purchase price, excluding shipping. Photos or planting documentation may be required. This guarantee does not apply to shallots or cover later growth, bulb size, or harvest yield.

Seed garlic and shallots are seasonal preorder items. Standard shipping is a flat $14.99 per order, regardless of quantity or weight. Expedited shipping is available for an additional charge.

Fall shipping schedule

Shipping is expected to begin after September 15, starting with colder USDA growing zones and moving to warmer zones as planting windows approach. Later-arriving varieties may delay an order until all items are ready. Dates are estimates and may shift with harvest timing, weather, or quality inspections.

If you are purchasing garlic or shallots with other plants or products, we recommend placing separate orders. This prevents other items from being held until the garlic is ready and avoids the time and potential expense of dividing a mixed order later. It can also save you money when plants require expedited shipping for cross-country travel.

Open your package promptly and keep bulbs whole in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place until planting. If anything arrives damaged, contact us within 48 hours and include photos.
