Abutilon
Victor Reiter

Flowering maples are prized by California gardeners, and Abutilon ‘Victor Reiter’ is a heavily blooming Bay Area favorite for good reason. This showy flowering maple shrub produces extra-large, outward-facing, soft tangerine blooms up to 2.5–3" across, glowing beautifully against deep green maple-shaped leaves.

Also known as Victor Reiter Flowering Maple, this multi-branching abutilon grows about 6' tall and 4' wide, bringing warm color, evergreen structure, and hummingbird appeal to shade gardens, part-sun borders, large containers, screens, and espalier plantings. Tip pruning keeps the plant full and bushy, while the long bloom season makes it a reliable source of color in mild-climate gardens.

Plant Abutilon ‘Victor Reiter’ in bright shade to part sun with loamy, well-drained soil. Side-dress with compost once or twice a year to keep it looking lush and floriferous, and provide regular water for the best show. Irresistible to hummingbirds and easy to love, this flowering maple is a warm-toned garden classic. Explore more shade-friendly bloomers in our Abutilon - Flowering Maples collection.
