Description

Antique Apple Green brings architecture without heaviness. Tall, branching candelabras are stacked with apple-green, shell-shaped bracts, each cupping a tiny white flower and giving neighboring colors an unexpectedly elegant frame.

The graceful 2½–3-foot stems carry a fresh, grassy meadowsweet scent. They are striking in summer borders, distinctive in bouquets, and exceptionally handsome when air-dried for arrangements that last beyond the season.

Sowing & Growing Instructions

Direct sow after frost in a finely textured bed in full sun or light shade. Place seeds 2 inches apart, cover 1/2 inch deep, and maintain even moisture. Germination is typically 10–20 days under the source conditions and may be gradual.

To start early, sow in individual pots 6–8 weeks before the last frost. Cover 1/2 inch, provide strong light, and transplant carefully after hardening off so the roots are disturbed as little as possible.

Thin or transplant 3–4-inch seedlings to 10–12 inches apart. Cut fresh stems when cups have opened high on the spike but before the lowest turn brown; cut later and hang upside down for drying.
