These spring-blooming flowers can reach 4–5" across, bringing moody glamour and serious wow-power to the mid or back of the border.

Also known as Black Peony Poppy, this cool-season annual is sensational in cottage gardens, cutting gardens, dramatic spring beds, and meadow-style plantings. Give it room, rich soil, and regular water during active growth, and it will reward you with big, ruffled flowers that impress everyone who sees them. Pair with pale pink, white, silver, lavender, chartreuse, or soft grasses for maximum contrast.

Plant Papaver hybridum ‘Black Peony’ in full sun with rich, well-drained soil, spacing plants at least 1' apart.
