Dahlia
Mystic Wizard

Cast a little garden spell with Dahlia ‘Mystic Wizard’! Luminous magenta-purple flowers blaze above glossy mahogany-black foliage, each single bloom finished with a bright golden center that makes the rich colors look even more intense. The contrast is pure theater—jewel-toned flowers floating over a pool of dark, polished leaves—yet the open-centered blooms keep the effect light and welcoming. Even between flushes of flowers, the foliage gives containers and borders the kind of dramatic depth usually reserved for much larger plants.

Compact and upright, ‘Mystic Wizard’ grows about 24–28 inches tall and 20 inches wide, forming a beautifully rounded plant for sunny borders and generous containers. Repeat bloom from summer into fall keeps the show going, while accessible flower centers welcome visiting pollinators. The sturdy stems are also lovely in small bouquets, where the electric blooms and near-black foliage create unforgettable contrast.

Plant in full sun to light part sun in fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly during active growth without leaving the crown in soggy soil, and remove faded flowers to encourage continued bloom. Protect the tuberous roots from hard winter freezes.
