Selected for holding its color beautifully without fading, Achillea millefolium ‘Red Velvet’ adds a bright flash of candy-apple red to almost any sunny garden. This hardy, carefree yarrow produces generous 3" flat-topped flower umbels on upright stems above soft, ferny foliage, bringing strong color and fine texture from spring into summer.

Also known as Red Velvet Yarrow, this drought-tolerant perennial is perfect for cottage gardens, dry borders, pollinator plantings, meadow-style beds, containers, and sunny groundcover plantings. Bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects love the flowers, while gardeners appreciate its toughness, long bloom season, and excellent bouquet potential. The rich red blooms pair beautifully with silver foliage, white flowers, blue salvias, grasses, and warm orange or yellow companions.

Plant Achillea millefolium ‘Red Velvet’ in full sun with well-drained soil. It tolerates heat, drought, and clay-ish conditions once established, and deadheading encourages more bloom.
