One of the fun and fabulous "peony" poppies, this is our favorite. The color (which is impossible to photograph), a rich dark purple-maroon, is stunning. If you give these poppies rich soil, water them and plant them at least 1' apart they will reward you with huge 4 - 5" incredibly double "peony" flowers, and undoubtedly impress your friends. Spring blooming - 3 - 4' tall, Reseeds! Mid to back of border. Poppy Fans - As cool season growers, Papavers should be planted only when extreme heat or extreme cold is not anticipated!
