Easy, versatile, and completely lime-a-licious, Nicotiana alata ‘Lime Green’ is an old-fashioned flowering tobacco with long-blooming chartreuse star power. Growing quickly to about 3' tall and 30" wide, it forms a bushy, graceful plant covered in 1.5" starry lime-green flowers that glow beautifully from garden beds, borders, cutting gardens, and large containers.

That bright lime color is pure garden magic — soft enough to harmonize with almost anything, yet bold enough to make oranges, pinks, yellows, blues, and deep purples pop fantastically. Use ‘Lime Green’ Nicotiana as a fresh color bridge in cottage gardens, pollinator plantings, and romantic mixed borders, or cut the long-lasting blooms for luminous arrangements.

Plant Nicotiana alata ‘Lime Green’ in full sun to part shade with rich, well-drained soil and average water. When the first bloom show slows, cut plants back to about 6" tall, side-dress with compost, and enjoy another round of flowers. Butterfly-friendly, generous, and likely to self-sow where happy, this is chartreuse charm at its best.

Compared to the 'Saratoga Lime' variety, 'Lime Green' is a classic, open-pollinated heirloom prized for its taller, airy stature and an intoxicating evening fragrance. While 'Saratoga' is a dwarf hybrid bred to be small and uniform, 'Lime Green' reaches 24 to 36 inches in height, making it a perfect cottage garden staple for the middle or back of a border. Please note that its heavily scented blooms naturally relax and droop a bit during the heat of the midday sun before fully opening and releasing their sweet perfume at dusk.
