Description
Smothering itself in richest royal blue, Anchusa capensis ‘Blue Angel’ creates a quick, vivid explosion of color right where the garden needs a little brilliance. This easy, deer resistant Cape forget-me-not grows about 15" tall and wide, forming a compact mound that fits beautifully at the front of borders, in containers, and among sunny cottage garden flowers.
Also known as Blue Angel Anchusa or Cape forget-me-not, this short-lived perennial is often grown as a self-sowing annual, especially in mild winter climates where it may live over and bloom again. The intense blue flowers look fabulous with red, yellow, orange, white, and silver companions, making it a useful little color spark for pollinator plantings and mixed annual beds.
Plant Anchusa capensis ‘Blue Angel’ in full sun with rich, well-drained soil. It tolerates some dryness and clay-ish soil, but performs best with good drainage and compost. After the first bloom period, cut back to about 3" tall for a second blast of blue. Explore more garden favorites in our Best Selling - Perennials & Biennials collection.
