Easy, elegant, and wonderfully unfussy, Verbascum phoeniceum ‘Violetta’ is a dark-flowered mullein that brings rich color and tall vertical grace to sunny borders and cottage gardens. Branching spikes of deep violet-purple blooms rise to about 30" tall, creating a striking display without asking for much in return.

Also known as purple mullein, ‘Violetta’ is a terrific choice for dry gardens, perennial borders, pollinator plantings, meadow-style beds, and low-maintenance landscapes. Verbascums are famous for being plant-and-enjoy performers: drought tolerant, deer resistant, snail resistant, and not fussy about soil. The tall blooming stalks add movement and structure, while the rich flower color pairs beautifully with white, yellow, silver, lavender, and soft apricot companions.
