Delicious fruit, wildly intricate flowers, and a fast-growing evergreen vine — Passiflora edulis ‘Frederick’ brings the full passion flower experience. From early summer into fall, it produces whimsical 3.5" purple-and-white passion flowers that delight gardeners, pollinators, and Gulf Fritillary butterflies alike.

Also known as Frederick passion fruit vine, this self-pollinating selection produces edible purple passion fruit that can be enjoyed fresh, in salads, or in desserts once fully ripe. Wait until the fruit darkens to purple and drops from the vine, then let it ripen a little longer for sweeter flavor. Quick-growing to about 15' tall and wide, it is excellent for fences, arbors, trellises, and large garden supports.

Plant Passiflora edulis ‘Frederick’ in full sun to part shade with well-drained soil and an annual side-dress of compost.
