Different, rare, and beautifully bi-colored, Cantua ‘Hot Pants’ is a softer-stemmed form of Chilean bellflower with glowing orange tubes that flare into vivid magenta skirts. The backlit flowers are absolutely fabulous, giving the shrub a lantern-like sparkle when the sun catches them just right.

This lax, graceful Cantua has a looser habit than more upright forms and can become a 7' tall and wide shrub in ideal conditions, though pruning will keep it much more manageable. Bloom time is usually around March, with spring offering the biggest and showiest display, followed by sporadic flowers for several months. Use it in cool-climate gardens, protected borders, large containers, or part-shade inland plantings where its rare color combination can shine.
