Our favorite Verbascum has sprouted candelabra, and honestly, we are not mad about it. Verbascum chaixii ‘Wedding Candles’ rises a glorious 4–5' tall with branching spires of pristine white flowers, each bloom dressed up with fuzzy purple stamens and bright orange anthers. The effect is elegant, airy, and just a little bridal — like garden candles lit for a very fancy wildflower wedding.

Easy, fast, drought-tolerant, and deer-resistant, ‘Wedding Candles’ Verbascum brings long-lasting vertical drama to sunny borders, cottage gardens, dry gardens, and pollinator-friendly plantings. Cut back spent spikes and it can bloom continuously from spring through fall, sending up fresh flower wands again and again.

Not fussy about soil, though richer soil encourages an even better show, Verbascum chaixii ‘Wedding Candles’ also self-sows reliably, creating graceful, repeating accents through the garden. Tall, luminous, and wonderfully unfussy, this is a superb habitat plant with serious ceremony.
