Adaptable and unfussy about soil, Limnanthes douglasii quickly settles in and spreads into a glossy, low, weed-suppressing mat up to 30 inches across. Slender 10-inch stems rise above the foliage, each crowned with masses of perfectly formed, one-inch flowers—crisp white petals delicately brushed with lemon-yellow at their centers, creating a refined two-toned display that seems almost painted by hand.

Its bloom season is remarkably long, offering weeks of continuous color and fragrance, and its compact, flowing habit makes it superb as an edging plant or a graceful spiller in pots at least 10 inches across.
