Basil ‘Wild Magic’ is a beautiful ornamental basil with purple-black foliage, upright violet blooms, and a compact habit that holds its good looks all season. Growing about 18" tall and 24" wide, it adds rich color to garden edges, containers, herb gardens, pollinator beds, and sunny mixed plantings.
This flowering basil is loved for its dense form and steady display of blooms, which are always buzzing with bees. Because the flowers are sterile, the leaves do not turn bitter the way many basils do after flowering, making it both ornamental and useful. Its dark foliage and violet flower spikes pair beautifully with calendula, zinnias, salvias, peppers, tomatoes, and other edible or ornamental garden favorites.
Plant Basil ‘Wild Magic’ in full sun with well-drained, compost-enriched soil and regular water. It is excellent in containers of 3 gallons or larger, where its color and fragrance can be enjoyed up close. Handsome, bee-friendly, and wonderfully long-lasting, this ornamental basil brings edible garden charm with serious style. Explore more practical beauties in our Edible & Useful collection.

My favorite basil of all! Great for bees and pollinators, I have even seen a hummingbird sipping from its flowers. Leaves stay sweet and spicy even when flowering. Tolerant of clay and even slight shading -- nothing too dark, of course, but it will take more shade than most basils and continue growing and blooming. Can't go wrong with this one! Thank you, Annie's/Peaceful Valley people for bringing back this hard-to-get and wonderful basil!
They look great !
With shipping a little pricey
As much as anything, it was an experiment for me
InIn the past I have purchased many plants from Annies Annuals in person as well as had them shipped
Happy to see your back in business!
I love this plant. I buy two of them every year. They grow to a decent size and are just the best color of purple.
Great plant. It loves clay soil, and it will get huge as long as you support it until established. Very strong fragrance. You may need to stake it when it gets big enough, as it may split down the middle. Again, great plant.
