One of the coolest plants we can grow here on the West Coast! Otherwordly conical clusters of glistening reddish pink flowers can reach 8' and will certainly get your garden noticed! Deer resistant, bug proof and totally drought tolerant "Tower of Jewels" seems not to care about anything but looking stupendous! Usually blooms in year 2 but in the meantime you get an impressive 30" across foliar rosette. Adored by hummers, it self-sows for years of enjoyment! Poor dry soil okay, but not clay.

The plants arrived not healthy and 2
Of them didn’t make it and end up going all brown after 2 days.
I'm on the Central Coast of CA in Arroyo Grande. This is spectacular from start to finish but you must be patient for sure! I got a couple of babies from my first one that even survived replanting and are just starting to get tall. It is an other worldly plant, just amazing to witness. It took about a year and a half and now the babies are taking longer but are worth the wait.
I bought three of these, afew years ago. Two were given to gardening friends. One, I kept. I planted it with other succulents in my Moss Beach garden and it took over a year and a half before it sent up a spike , but it was worth the wait for this fabulous showy plant. Here on the San Mateo County Coastside, one sees the purple & blue ones lining the road sides. They naturally seem to replenish themselves every year, but mine did not set any seed, so I may just have to purchase another one. Echium wildpretii will not disappoint, but you must be patient!
