Description
Wow, what a color. Sphaeralcea ‘Newleaze Coral’ is a free-flowering globe mallow with surprisingly intense coral-red blooms that glow from late spring into frost. The 1" mini hollyhock-like flowers appear in plentiful waves on graceful, multi-branching stems, creating a warm, lively display that looks especially striking in dry gardens and native-style plantings.
This western native perennial is low maintenance, heat tolerant, and drought tolerant once established, with soft grey-green lobed foliage that stays attractive even when the plant is between bloom cycles. Growing about 3–4' tall and wide, ‘Newleaze Coral’ is beautiful planted in groups, woven into pollinator gardens, or grown in large containers of 10 gallons or more.
Plant Sphaeralcea ‘Newleaze Coral’ in full sun with excellent drainage and average to low fertility soil. In its second year, cut back to 12–18" to maintain a bushy shape. Bees and butterflies love the blooms, and deer tend to leave it alone. Explore more habitat-friendly favorites in our California Native Perennials collection.

This is a favorite among my plants! Cold and heat hardy, not fussy about soil or water and blooms like crazy. Should probably be supported in some way as it grows tall and wide.
