Description
Pretty much ever-blooming and absolutely loaded with color, Salvia ‘Amistad’ is a dramatic long-season sage with large, luscious upright spikes that appear from mid-spring into late fall. Midnight-dark calyces set off rich purple blooms, creating a velvety, high-contrast look that is pure garden theater.
Also known as Amistad Sage, this robust, multi-branching salvia makes a bold statement in sunny borders, pollinator gardens, cottage plantings, and large containers. The tall flower spikes are beloved by hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, while gardeners appreciate the steady bloom, handsome foliage, and richly saturated color. Pair it with grasses, dahlias, yarrow, cuphea, lantana, silver foliage, or lime green nicotiana for a striking seasonal display.
Plant Salvia ‘Amistad’ in full sun to part shade with rich, well-drained soil and regular water for best performance. Cut back as needed to refresh growth and encourage more blooms. Colorful, vigorous, and wonderfully wildlife-friendly, it is a standout in our Salvia - Sage collection.
