Description
And the award for mind-blowing textural drama goes to Muhlenbergia capillaris, better known as Pink Muhly Grass. This fantastic ornamental grass forms a pleasant 3' x 3' mound of fine-textured foliage, then bursts from September through December into a shimmering cotton-candy cloud of airy pink flowers.
Native to parts of the southeastern United States, Pink Muhly Grass grows beautifully in a wide range of gardens, from hot inland sites to cool foggy climates. Use it in groupings along driveways, parking strips, dry borders, meadow-style plantings, modern landscapes, or large containers where its fall bloom show can stop gardeners in their tracks. The soft pink plumes catch light beautifully and bring extraordinary movement to the garden.
Plant Muhlenbergia capillaris in full sun with well-drained soil. It is renowned for tolerating heat, humidity, drought, poorly drained clay, sand, and deer. Semi-deciduous in winter, it returns with fresh texture each season. Explore more ornamental grasses in our Muhlenbergia - Muhly Grass collection.
