Description
A super drought tolerant California native, Mimulus aurantiacus ‘Point Molate Form’ is a rugged and beautiful bush monkeyflower discovered in the hills above Point Molate. Growing about 3–4' tall, it produces cheerful tubular blooms that are usually golden yellow, adding bright native color to dry gardens, slopes, rock gardens, and habitat plantings.
Also known as sticky monkey flower, this tough native shrub is a magnet for hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. Its upright, natural habit makes it excellent for chaparral-style landscapes, native borders, coastal-influenced gardens, and low-water plantings where resilience matters. Pair it with California sages, buckwheats, yarrow, penstemons, grasses, and California fuchsia for a glowing, pollinator-rich display.
Plant Mimulus aurantiacus ‘Point Molate Form’ in full sun to part shade with excellent drainage. Once established, it needs little to no summer water, though occasional irrigation can keep plants greener and extend bloom. Avoid overly rich or soggy soil.
