Description
Liquid gold for a dull shady corner, Lysimachia nummularia ‘Aurea’ is a bright, low-growing groundcover with glowing chartreuse foliage and a wonderfully useful habit. Also known as Golden Pennywort or Golden Creeping Jenny, it forms a dense mat only about 2" tall and up to 2' wide, filling bare spots with fresh color.
Unlike the common green form, this golden selection is easier to place in the garden and especially beautiful as a spiller in containers, hanging baskets, shady borders, woodland edges, and moist pathway plantings. Its rounded leaves create a lush carpet that can help suppress weeds while brightening darker areas. Use it with ferns, heucheras, hostas, violas, sedges, and other shade-loving perennials for a layered foliage display.
Plant Lysimachia nummularia ‘Aurea’ in shade to part sun with rich, moist, well-drained soil. It appreciates regular water and looks especially luminous where afternoon sun is softened. Cheerful, trailing, and endlessly useful, it is a golden little problem solver. Explore more foliage favorites in our Lysimachia collection.
