This adaptable native and near-native spreader forms a dense creeping mat only about 2" tall, making it useful for erosion control, pathways, open spaces, and low-water plantings.

Also known as frogfruit, creeping lippia, or turkey tangle fogfruit, this durable groundcover handles many soil types, including wet, dry, and clay-ish soils. Planted about 2' apart, it fills in quickly to create a low green carpet. From spring through fall, small lavender-pink flower clusters appear, attracting bees, small butterflies, and other pollinators. Shear periodically if you want fewer flowers or need to reduce bee activity in high-traffic areas.
