Much beloved for its enormous snowy white flower heads, Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’ delivers big garden drama with very little fuss. This classic smooth hydrangea produces rounded bloom clusters up to 12" across, creating a lush, romantic display in shade gardens, woodland borders, cottage plantings, and foundation beds.
Also known as Annabelle Hydrangea, this easy deciduous shrub is famous for its generous summer flowers and soft green foliage. The huge white blooms brighten shady spaces beautifully and are excellent for fresh bouquets or dried arrangements. Use it as a glowing backdrop for ferns, heucheras, hostas, hellebores, woodland phlox, and other shade-loving perennials, or mass it for a spectacular drift of white.
Plant Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’ in part shade to bright shade with rich, well-drained soil and regular water. It tolerates clay-ish soil and is generally undemanding once established, though compost and consistent moisture support the best bloom show. Elegant, reliable, and wonderfully showy, this hydrangea is a timeless garden favorite in our Shrubs & Trees collection.
