Description
The stunning Cantua buxifolia, also known as the Sacred Flowers Of The Andes, is a striking evergreen shrub prized for its brilliant magenta blooms. In spring—and often intermittently throughout the year—it produces clusters of 3" flaring trumpet-shaped flowers, with twelve or more blossoms per cluster, each showcasing bright blue pollen on the stamens. These vivid flowers are adored by hummingbirds and bring bold color and movement to the garden.
Commonly referred to simply as Cantua, this fast-growing shrub can reach about 6’ x 6’ with multibranching growth, though it can be pruned to maintain a smaller size or trained in a large container (15 gallons or larger) or as an espalier. It prefers a sunny, sheltered location and rich soil, though it can tolerate less-than-ideal conditions. Native to the Andes, it is hardy down to about 20°F, but does not perform well in hot, humid climates.
For your convenience, Annie’s plants ship in boxes of 4, 6, 8, or 12 plants per box. See Shipping Information below for additional details regarding states necessitating expedited shipping and other shipping policies.
