Description
Flashy, floriferous, and loaded with warm color, Alonsoa meridionalis is a Chilean native mask flower that delivers serious bang for the garden. Countless freely branching upright stems reach about 3' tall, carrying hundreds of soft apricot blooms over a long season for a cheerful, glowing display.
Also known as Apricot Mask Flower, this fabulous perennial is lovely in cottage gardens, cutting gardens, sunny borders, containers, and pollinator plantings where months of color are welcome. The soft apricot flowers mix beautifully with blues, purples, pinks, creams, ornamental grasses, salvias, scabiosa, and dark foliage. In coastal Sunset Zones 16 and 17, it can put on a spectacular winter bloom show as well.
Plant Alonsoa meridionalis in full sun to part shade with rich, well-drained soil and regular water. When the first big bloom show finally slows, cut back to about 6" and side-dress with compost to encourage another burst of flowers. Explore more cheerful bloomers in our Alonsoa - Mask Flower collection.
