Description
The most outrageous blue you can invite into the garden, Delphinium elatum ‘Cobalt Dreams’ is a jumbo perennial delphinium with towering royal-blue flower spikes that look positively regal in borders, cottage gardens, and cutting beds. This is no mildew-prone little wimp that disappears after one season — ‘Cobalt Dreams’ Delphinium is reliably perennial, multi-spiking, and gloriously extra-large-flowered, reaching up to 6' tall and 4' wide when happy.
The sumptuous cobalt-blue blooms make spectacular cut flowers and bring dramatic vertical color wherever a garden needs height, romance, and a little botanical fanfare. Butterflies love the blooms, while deer tend to leave this beauty alone.
Plant Delphinium elatum ‘Cobalt Dreams’ in full sun to light afternoon shade with rich, loamy, well-drained soil. Add compost in spring and summer to encourage those huge, heart-stopping spikes. After the first bloom show is spent, cut plants back to about 6" tall for a repeat performance. Tall, bold, and absolutely breathtaking.
