Tough, fast and gorgeous! This rare vine features 4” blooms that are crowned with a super-fluffy halo of deep purple fringe. Blooms most of the year once established – from spring to frost. Growing to 15' within its first two years when given average water and a good-sized space to sprawl.

Philadelphus lewisii
'Goose Creek'
This fast and resilient shrub, a cultivar of “Western Mock Orange,” explodes into a grand cloud of bloom from late spring into summer. The clusters of double 1.5” pure white double blooms emit a heady fragrance – orange-blossom with a hint of pineapple. Blooms best with at least half day sun, fertile soil and moderate summer water. Native to CA and the Northwest.

Ceanothus thyrsiflorus var. griseus
'Yankee Point'
One of the best choices for a sophisticated, drought tolerant, fast growing and weed suppressing groundcover or hillside stabilizer. Glossy evergreen foliage forms a mounding mass to 30" tall, spreading to 10 ft. across. In late winter and spring, it smothers itself in lovely mid-blue 1" flower clusters adored by the bees and butterflies. This easy "California Lilac" tolerates more water and clay than other varieties but benefits from good drainage.

"Berkeley Sedge"
Super adaptable and versatile, this evergreen grass always looks lush and pretty as it thrives in both sun and shade. Tough and carefree, use it to edge beds and pathways and as a steppable groundcover even in quite shady areas under trees. Stays green year around in temperate climates, quickly fills out to a dense, finely textured 2’ x 2’ clump that can be clipped or mowed. Drought tolerant but most verdant with some summer water.

Festuca glauca
'Elijah Blue'
The best variety of Festuca glauca, ‘Elijah Blue’ was selected for its intense silvery-blue, fine textured leaves that reach 8”-10” in height. A superb color accent, and solid performer in cool coastal climates, this clump forming, soft foliage grass, makes an excellent ground cover for small areas, and is a good choice for edging. Should have well-drained soil - not clay. Plant on 12” centers and shear it back in late winter for a longer life and neater appearance. Sun is best, but will tolerate light shade in hotter climates. DROUGHT TOLERANT in coastal areas.

"Yellow-Eyed Grass"
Native to Coastal California, “Yellow-Eyed Grass” is almost ever blooming as long as it has ample moisture. 8” to 12” tall and wide, numerous sunny yellow star-flowers are borne just above the tufted, grass-like, smooth foliage. Nice as edging or next to a water feature or water faucet for maximum bloom. Foliage darkens in Fall and should be cut back.

'North Coast' "Blue-Eyed-Grass"
With the largest flowers and the longest bloom season you could ever hope for, we are totally in love with this extraordinary native “Blue Eyed- Grass.” Topped with HUGE 1-1.5” starry purple-blue yellow eyed flowers, it’s extremely easy and reliably perennial. This low and dense grassy groundcover (and Iris relative) is sand and CLAY tolerant and grows well under oaks.

Making wine from flowers (no grapes) is an ancient art that is being revived by Aaliyah Nitoto, owner of Free Range Flower Winery in Livermore. Join her for a fascinating presentation about flower wine making and how she has parlayed her knowledge of flowers and plants, and background in biology, herbalism and nutrition education, into the science and art of winemaking, using California-grown lavender, marigold, hibiscus and rose.
Note: this will be a discussion only. Due to local regulations there will not be any tastings available. However, FRFW wines may be purchased directly from their website.
