Onion ‘Cipollini Borrettana’

Onion ‘Cipollini Borrettana’

A pearl of an onion with a beautiful saucer-like shape & a sweet, mild flavor. I love this onion (from “cipolla” – Italian for onion) & not just because my mom keeps sharing seeds with me – it’s elegant, nicely flavored & is the perfect size and shape for shish kebabs or pickling. Space them tightly (2” apart) for the flattest final forms. To 1-4” wide at maturity. Plant in rich well drained soil & keep well watered & fed through the first part of Spring. When the green tops begin to die down, withhold water. Harvest bulbs of the size you like! Once cured, they’ll store for months if kept somewhere cool & dry.
