This Aussie annual features 2-3” wide umbels of pastel violet-blue flowers & a delicate appearance that reminds some of a blue Queen Anne's Lace. Plants first form curving stems with fine, deeply lobed leaves & then come summer, send up strong 30” high flowering stems. Each umbel is comprised of 20-30 tiny, flat-faced, dreamy florets, much beloved by bees & butterflies. Known as Blue Lace flower, these lightly fragrant flowers make excellent, long-lasting cut flowers. Flowering lasts well into the fall. Curiously, this plant is related to dill & fennel, though it is not edible. A longstanding cottage garden flower, it was first introduced to the trade in 1828! Combine this floriferous annual with other cooler spectrum flowers such as Scabiosas, Gilias & blue or purple Salvias. It likes fertile, well-drained soil & a nice sunny spot. May self-seed. Deer resistant.
