Evergreen, ground-covering, drought tolerant & such a sweet face! The six-petaled purple flowers are small at .5” each, but PROFUSE & do have the characteristic Cuphea “face”. They are particularly popular with bumblebees. We give thanks to Strybing Arboretum for sharing with us this very useful plant. Very rare, but with such a host of good qualities it is sure to find its place amidst the ranks of Cuphea-kind. Forming a weed-suppressing mat of foliage to 2’ or more wide, it tends not to root along the stem, but when planted in drifts it does provide good coverage. Best in rich, well drained soil.
