The very best paste tomato! Renowned for its flavor, not something always said about a paste tomato, this heirloom variety produces an endless amount of oblong bright red fruits from June through September. With a very small seed cavity, this tomato is a meaty wonder perfect for sauces, canning, even drying. Hailing from the, yes, San Marzano region in Italy, this variety is famous for its balanced flavor, one that combines sweetness, tomato-y intensity & just the right amount of acid. Fruits grow in clusters of 6 to 8, each about 4” long. These bushy plants get 6-8' tall & 2-3' wide. Tomatoes mature in about 85 days. Plant in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil. As with most tomatoes, it is best to add bone meal & calcium to the soil at the time of planting. Give it a bit of water regularly (every 2-3 days), then as plants grow, begin cutting back on the frequency but water them more deeply. Deer resistant.
