This mild tangy-sweet pepper is the quintessential savory sidekick for a lunch or dinner meal! So versatile and easy on the palate that even pepper haters like them, which is probably why they have been one of the most popular home grown peppers in America since the 1940’s. My mother grew and served them almost daily - pickled, stuffed, or fresh sliced in rings for sandwiches and salads. Vigorous performers, they will produce up to thirty 1.5” thick, 6-7” long green to red peppers on a single plant! Super easy to grow as long as they get full sun, rich well-draining soil and consistent water. Reaches 18-24” high and wide. Grow ‘em in the ground or in a container (minimum 12-15” across). Some gardeners swear by giving them an extra boost of compost or fertilizer when they set fruit. Commonly grown as an annual, it is often an perennial in zones 9-11. Attracts bees and other pollinators.
