Amazingly easy to grow – how could you not want this remarkable “Pineapple Lily”? Brilliantly vibrant, ruby-burgundy strap-like leaves held in an upright rosette create delicious drama & contrast. Lovely, giant ‘pineapple’ flower heads complete with tufted tops rise up mid-to-late Summer atop erect, deep ruby stalks to 30” tall. (Each successive year produces more spikes – up to 10 at a time.) Opening out from magenta/purple buds, the pink blooms are scented & attract butterflies, bees & hummingbirds. And they make a totally excellent cut flower, lasting up to 3 weeks in a vase! Provide well-drained soil with compost added & regular moisture - other than that, it’s a cinch! Superb as a container subject - where’s your prettiest pot? There are reports of this variety easily surviving down to USDA zone 5!
