With all the Eucomis around these days, I think this long-lived species is still at the top of my faves, and since it tops out at only 18” tall, it’s magnificent in a container (5+ gal.)! A horde of dense, chubby spikes of green flowers sporting adorable “pineapple” topknots rise up in July above low, wavy foliage to 20” across. An impressive sight that lasts for months and outrageous, long-lasting cut flowers that last for weeks! Rich, well-drained soil. EASY, easy, easy!! Deciduous. Top-dress with a bit of compost in Spring. Tolerant of some shade. Hardy to 20 degrees F.
