California Lilac

With its spectacular Springtime display and unusual HEAT TOLERANCE, this UC Davis All-Star introduction is recommended for inland gardens as well as for us coastal folks. And, with its smaller 2-3’ x 4’ compact habit it’s easy to place! Small, evergreen foliage is practically smothered in Spring in extra-long clusters of rich lavender-violet lightly fragrant flowers, loved by bees and butterflies. A good choice for small gardens, wide parking strips and barrel-sized containers. Though clay-ish tolerant, do provide decent drainage for health and fastest growth. Deer resistant.

So far so good...but SLOWWWWW growing
Mine is a single limb so far & still only about 6" long. It's tiny & hasn't grown but it did survive 2 ft of snow & encased in 2" of ice for ~1 week while my other ceanothus all died. 8b @ ~1200 ft
