HARDY to zone 6! This dazzling cultivar is one of the most durable of all “Lily-of-the-Niles”. Winner of the Royal Horticulture Society’s Award of Garden Merit, it’s an outstanding way to add purplish-blue tones to nearly any garden bed. This evergreen to semi-evergreen perennial will prosper given Sun or Shade, wet or dry conditions and can handle nearly any soil type. It produces 12-18” long, strap-shaped green leaves in thick bunches and, from early Summer to Fall, rigid flower stalks to 3’ tall sprout 4” spheres of beautiful funnel-shaped flowers, with up to fifty 2” florets per head. Great as a mass planting for a border or mixed in with larger succulents. Fills out a bed via underground rhizomes. Flowers attract bees, butterflies and hummers. Deer and rabbit resistant. Deadhead for prolonged blooming. Drought tolerant and long lived. Makes excellent cut flowers.
