Bouteloua gracilis 'Blonde Ambition' Because many gentlemen (and ladies) prefer blondes – we bring you this highly ornamental blonde “Eyebrow Grass”! Featuring bigger, showier flowers in greater abundance than the straight species, it still retains its tough-as-nails resilience to drought, deer, and neglect. ‘Blonde Ambition’ forms a dense 2’ high and wide clump of lovely pale blue-green foliage. In late Summer, flower stalks encase the entire plant in a shimmery explosion of flowers that look like yellow-green versions of Groucho Marx’s eyebrows or Tom Selleck’s mustache reaching about 6” out from the foliage. Fading to shimmery tan, the flowers remain on the plant thru Winter as the foliage turns gold. Cut back in early Spring to refresh. Looks best with occasional Summer water. Provide good drainage for a healthy plant. Excellent for a childrens garden! |
