Gazania
'Otomi'

A new addition to the Sunbathers series, 'Otomi' produces blooms ranging from a wowie red to pastel pink, with large ruffled centers, each petal marked with a subtle center stripe. The 4” flowers sit atop grayish-green scalloped leaves and put on a dazzling show from spring through fall. Varieties in this series also stay open even when the sun is not out, unlike some African daisies. Bees and butterflies are drawn to the nectar-rich flowers. Gazanias have a well-deserved reputation for being extremely drought tolerant and able to thrive in poor soils. Plants stay low (4-8”), while spreading out slowly to 18”. They make an ideal ground cover, addition to a semi-neglected median strip or for use in a hanging basket. Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. Trim to desired shape in winter. Deadheading prolongs blooming. Deer resistant.
